John Ellis, celebrated singer-songwriter and former front man of one of South Africa’s highly successful bands, Tree63, now begins his solo career with the release of his hit packed debut album “Come Out Fighting”. John and his young family, having relocated to Nashville during the Tree63 years recently moved back to Durban to start again. John spent 2008 figuring out what to do next, and eventually the songs that form the backbone of John’s solo debut began to take shape. Freed of the restraints of Christian music and the Christian music industry, John feels a previously-unexplored artistic freedom to write about another passion close to his heart: South Africa. Like most South Africans, John is simultaneously proud of and angered by the modern South Africa, and this is reflected in his songwriting. “Come Out Fighting” sees the  start of a new chapter for a seasoned and experienced artist.
